Here are some healthy foods you shouldn't be afraid to eat because of the calories:

1. Nuts and nut butter

One gram of fat is 9 calories, while one gram of protein or carbohydrate is only 4 calories. Foods like nuts tend to be higher in fat, resulting in higher calories. But they are also rich in protein, fiber and healthy fats, and contain many vitamins. Healthy fats in nuts are associated with lower risk of cardio disease. Plus, it makes feel full after eating them.

2. Avocado

These fruits are high-calorie but loaded with nutrition. They are a good source of copper, folate, fiber and vitamin K. The fat in avocado actually helps the body absorb fat-soluble nutrients from other foods, including vitamin A, D, E and K.

3. Chia seeds

These tiny food contain a high amount of calories and nutrients. Not only are they high in fiber, but also calcium, protein, omega-3 acids, zinc and copper. Chia seeds can lower blood pressure and have anti-inflammatory effects.

4. Olive oil

Olive oil lowers the risk of heart disease, and is an excellent a source of monounsaturated fats. It has a high content of omega-6, omega-3, vitamin E, and vitamin K. Olive oil improves brain function and promotes a healthy weight.

5. Dairy

Both full-fat and low-fat dairy are packed with protein, calcium, vitamin D and potassium. In addition, dairy contains "good bacteria" which promotes digestion health. The full-fat version is more rich, leaving people more satisfied, as compared to the low-fat version.

5. Dark chocolate

Dark chocolate is full of anti-oxidants, fiber, iron, magnesium and copper. All these nutrients improve brain function, reduce the risk of heart disease, and improves blood pressure.
